प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के गृह राज्य गुजरात में नकली नोटों के कारोबार का पर्दाफाश हुआ है। एटीएस की टीम ने गुजरात के बाज़ार में नकली नोटों को घुसाने वाले नेटवर्क को धर दबोचा है। इस दौरान एटीएस ने 1.52 लाख रुपए के नकली नोट भी बरामद किए हैं।
नकली नोटों के साथ जूनागढ़ से एक ओरोपी को भी गिरफ़्तार किया गया है। बताया जा रहा है कि आरोपी नकली नोटों को पश्चिम बंगाल से गुजरात लाया था। इस गिरोह के मुख्य सरगना की भी शिनाख़्त हो गई है। एटीएस की टीम उसे पकड़ने के लिए दबिश दे रही है।
एटीएस ने बताया कि आरोपी संजय देवलिया के पास से 2000 के 43 और 500 के 12 नकली नोट बरामद किए गए हैं। इन नकली नोटों को बाज़ार में आसानी से चलाने के लिए इसकी गुणवत्ता पर काफ़ी काम किया गया है।

नकली नोटों में सुरक्षा धागा और वॉटर मार्क का भी इस्तेमाल किया गया है, जिससे नोटों की पहचान करना मुश्किल है। नोटबंदी के बाद से इस प्रकार के उच्च गुणवत्ता वाले नकली नोटों की यह गुजरात में पहली बरामदगी है।
इस मामले को लेकर बसपा नेता सुधींद्र भदौरिया ने पीएम मोदी के कथित गुजरात मॉडल पर निशाना साधा है। उन्होंने ट्विटर पर नकली नोटों की ख़बर को शेयर करते हुए लिखा,

ग़ौरतलब है कि 2014 के लोकसभा चुनाव से पहले घोटालों के आरोप में घिरी यूपीए सरकार को सत्ता से हटाने के लिए बीजेपी ने ‘गुजरात मॉडल’ शब्द का सहारा लिया था।
तब बीजेपी के चुनाव प्रचार अभियान की कमान संभाल रहे गुजरात के तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी जहां भी जाते थे, गुजरात के विकास मॉडल का जिक्र ज़रूर करते थे।
वे लाखों यूपी-बिहार वालों को वापस भेज रहें हैं, आपको सिर्फ एक गुजराती को वापस गुजरात भेजना है
मोदी लगभग अपनी हर चुनावी सभा में यह दावा किया करते थे कि केंद्र में बीजेपी की सरकार बनने के बाद वह देशभर में गुजरात मॉडल लागू करेंगे।
अब मोदी सरकार के शासनकाल के चार साल बीत जाने के बाद लोग उसी गुजरात मॉडल पर सावल उठा रहे हैं। अपने तमाम दावों में नाकाम मोदी सरकार से लोग पूछ रहे हैं कि क्या यही आपका गुजरात मॉडल है?

“I am committing suicide because I have huge debt burden. The cotton crop in my farm was damaged this year due to the pink worm. Narendra Modi is responsible for my death.”
These are lines from a suicide note left behind by Shankar Bhaurao Chayanne, a farmer from Yavatmal, Maharashtra who took his own life by consuming poison.
According to The Indian Express, Devanand Pawar, head of the farmer’s committee for justice, led local villagers along with Chayare’s family to Gitanjali police station to register an FIR against Prime Minister Modi. This is the second incident in eight months at Yavatmal where a farmer killed himself and blamed Prime Minister Modi.
Earlier, when farmer Prakash Mangoankar had killed himself, the state government announced compensation for his family. However, according to Pawar, they are yet to receive any help. Pawar also feels that the current government is very insensitive towards farmers and is hell-bent on destroying them.
These are not the only incident, nor are they confined to Maharashtra. According to latest reports Published in The Times of India, there are over 12,000 farmers committing suicide every year.
According to the statistics given by the Centre, a total of 12,602 persons involved in the farming sector — 8,007 farmers-cultivators and 4,595 agricultural labourers – committed suicide during 2015, accounting for 9.4% of total suicide victims (133,623) in the country. Maharashtra, with 4,291 suicides, tops the list, followed by Karnataka – 1,569, Telangana – 1,400, Madhya Pradesh – 1,290, Chhattisgarh – 954, Andhra Pradesh – 916 and Tamil Nadu – 606. Together, 87.5% of the total farmer’s suicide are accounted in these seven states. The primary reason of half of the suicides in the country is ‘debt burden’.
According to an India Spend analysis of various government data in 2017, “70% of India’s 90 million agricultural households spend more than they earn on average each month resulting in mounting debt. Andhra Pradesh has the highest share of indebted agricultural households (93%), followed by Telangana (89%) and Tamil Nadu (82.1%). Another notable reason for the ever-increasing farmer’s debt is the rising healthcare cost. Outstanding loans for health reasons have doubled from 3% in 2002 to 6% in 2012, according to a 2015 analysis of NSSO data by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)”.

In a development with wide ramifications, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked its Special Director Rakesh Asthana in a bribery scandal, naming him as an accused in an FIR filed earlier this week. Asthana is No. 2 in the CBI hierarchy. The FIR has also named Samant Kumar Goel, Special Director of India’s external intelligence agency (R&AW), but not as an accused. CBI filed the FIR on Tuesday. It named Asthana as Accused Number 1 for demanding and taking bribe from a businessman who was under investigation in the Moin Qureshi corruption case by a special investigation team (SIT) headed by Asthana.

According to sources, CBI has put telephone intercepts, WhatsApp messages, money trail and a statement before the magistrate under Section 164. Text messages sent to Asthana seeking a reaction went unanswered. Exposing faultlines within, the CBI on September 21, had said that it had informed the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) that it was investigating Asthana in six cases of corruption. The CBI has also said Asthana was maligning Director Alok Verma’s image and trying to “intimidate” officials by sending a “frivolous” complaint to the CVC against Verma.

Reacting to this, Asthana wrote to the government with a complaint against Verma, saying that the Director had sought to impede his functioning, interfere in investigations and malign his reputation.
The CBI moved against Asthana after the arrest of Dubai-based middleman Manoj Prasad on a complaint from Hyderabad-based businessman Sana Satish whose role was being investigated by the CBI SIT under Asthana in the Qureshi corruption case. Qureshi was raided by the Income-Tax department in February 2014, and his BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) messages with former CBI Director A P Singh led to Singh’s resignation as member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Three years later, a case was registered by the CBI in February 2017. This was one of the many important cases being handled by the SIT headed by Asthana.
